I'm really surprised that most of you didn't know about all the very early recruiting at Bama. It's all about having your ear to the ground and getting to know PNMs as early as possible. Alabama high-schoolers typically pick their Auburn/Alabama allegiances early, and it's usually known years ahead of time that these girls will be coming to Bama and want to rush.

In addition, many sororities have "core" high schools that they recruit out of, and alums send in recs early and often. And most chapters do require a rec, if not more than one, to be on their lawn on Bid Day, even if that goes against their respective national policies. This is why the "typical" Southern sororities and the more established chapters continue to do well, because they already have huge underground Junior League-style networks of alums who keep tabs on prospective PNMs.

Most of what lillylover says is true, though she obviously got her heart set on an Old Row sorority, and once she was cut from those, it was all over in her eyes. I'm sure she would have had a much better time at Bama had she pledged one of those 5 houses she had left, but she dug her own grave on that. Lilly's comments really underscore the fact that most Bama PNMs do not keep their options open.
