1. The rules put in place by panhel were decided by A VERY SMALL FRACTION of its members. As the earlier posts in this thread stated, some groups put this issue before collegians for a vote, but many did not. In my GLO's case, the issue was decided by our national council - there was no vote. In effect, seven women made a very important decision for our approximately 4,000 collegiate members without proper representation or input. Does that sound fair to you?

Not to be a stickler, but the rules that are in place were not put into place by NPC. NPC made a recommendation that each sorority put a policy in place to support the fraternities that were going alcohol free in their housing. But the individual sororities did their own thing in passing a policy to support this resolution. I know that Sigma Kappa had their entire delegation vote on this at their last convention, while my sorority, D Phi E, had a task force made up of collegiate and alumnae members to discuss all of the pros and cons and pass a resolution. Our national council had to approve what we did, but that wasn't a problem at all. If you're upset with the policy, talk to your national council about it. 33, you're right, it sucks that your group decided on such a large issue in such a narrow way...I feel for you!
