Hey everyone,

alright, I've calmed down significantly and I think I might even survive. No promises though! Anyway. We met with four girls tonight, (who we already knew), and sat down with them to have interviews. They were all really cool, and we asked them what their interest was in NBO, and how they felt about being in a sorority. They all had really wonderful answers about wanting a family away from home, being part of something different and not like the stereotypes, supporting one another through sisterhood, etc etc. So we're extending bids to them tonight. I know this seems sudden, but I had a great gut instinct about them, and already I feel like they'll be better for our sorority than the girls we lost. I love them and they're wonderful friends, but I don't think they would really function well as sorority sisters. So anyway. I also called and harrased the student organization people, and they're going to let us put up flyers, hold meetings, and potentially even set up information tables. Mary (who is now the president of Gamma Phi, the one who's been helping us sooo much) told me that we really really really need to stay on top of NPC- ie getting everyone we know to send letters of recommendation, calling for updates regularly, and getting in touch with the groups that we're interested in. So I told each of my girls to go online and check out the websites for each org, and report back to me by Monday with one GLO that they clicked with. I made sure to tell them to look at philanthropies, mottos, creeds, purposes, goals, colors, mascots, badges, etc etc etc, anything that will give them a good idea of what a sorority is all about. From there we're going to narrow it down to five groups that we want to target (so to speak). Then, we'll send out letters to those five organizations, get in touch with chapters and alumni groups in the area, and just basically work really hard to get our name out there. So if anyone has any thoughts on how else to knock the proverbial socks off of NPC, please let me know. Thank you for reminding me of how far I've come with this- I think sometimes I expect sorority life to be exempt from the ups and downs of regular life- setbacks like this help me to remember that there will be rought patches and accomplishments, just like anything else. So that's all for now, more later!
love, Corina
ps: all the new members love my shirts....so there!
