This is gonna be final post on this whole situation. Disclaimer before I begin: I am in no way a saint. I probably have said worse on here then most of the regulars, I just happen to be one of those kinds of people who gets something on his mind and has to give his 2 cents about it.
There is nothing wrong with bashing on this board. Especially against anti greeks who come here to pick fights with us, and usually we give it to em. Go us. Then we have the fly by nighters that come in here with uneducated comments lookin for a fight, and we are usually more than happy to give them a ear full too. Hey, to me, thats good stuff. Gotta love it when the board is jumpin with red hot folders with all of the regulars bashing on some idiot that thought they would come in here trying to get a little sideways with us.
Me personally, I dont like it when GREEKS (bigtime emphasis on that) post articles with the troubles of our fellow greeks, usually of the illegal kind, that they have so graciously retrieved from websites like, oh say, CNN.COM!!! Cmon folks, if stuff happens to other chapters around the country and it makes a nationally syndicated website like CNN.COM do we really need to bring it here for further examination. Now I can see non greeks bringing it to us. That honestly hurts us. Let a sleeping dog lie. If someone frequents these sites and sees it, hey, nothing we can do.
I have already said what I am about to say this week so bear with me or turn your comp off. New kids come to this site everyday. Potential Rushees, greenhorns, wet behind the ears, and eager to learn. Their first couple of posts are gonna be ignorant as hell (ie. What is XYZ like at ABC School) Just plain ol dumb stuff. I think that is what we are talking about in this thread. Some of you jump down their THROATS and honestly, alot of the time they dont know any better than to ask us these dumb things. There are 4 or 5 ladies I hold in very high regard on here. As far as GC goes they are powerful, respected, and influencial. After reading some of these posts, I realize that some of them are the most intolerant too. There is nothing that I can do about that. I made a bad comment against OTW this week (that I shouldnt have), becasue honestly, I view her as one of the MOST powerful and influencial on here, if I was a girl, more especially a potential rushee, it would be people like these 4 or 5 women I would turn to for advice. Provided I didnt get my head bit off. See what I am getting at. I sited an example earlier but what if one of these girls has an older brother that tells her not to rush cause he thinks sorority girls are stuck up and snobbish. Say that girl doesnt listen to her brother and she comes here and asks a simple yet beat to death question directed towards us, and one of us bits her head off. Now, where will her opinion go, and will someone step up fast enough to help her with the information she seeks. I have no more to say about it I just wanted yall to hear my side.
And yes, I know there is a thread out there containing the kind of CRAP that I hate (ie. guess what so and so chapter at so and so U. did this week, I found it on CNN) and to be honest, I just feel like Ive said so much about it that I feel like I am runnin in circles sometimes.
Conclusion: There are some very, very, very influencial people on this board. Even on a website some of you can make a diffrence in young people minds. I'm not saying that you dont do enough, but as fall rush nears, lets all be on the same team.
I didnt get to slam on that actung whatever his name was today because I designed a testing machine and it had its maiden run this mornin, by the time I got to a comp everything was locked up. We need "get out of lock and key for free cards" for the regulars so we can get in there and atleast get one or two good punches in real quick.
