If you've never been on the receiving end of racism, overt or otherwise, its hard to explain what it feels like to be discriminated against. It's hard to explain why you get nervous when you get pulled over or followed in a store or looked at funny when you walk with your child down the street because you look young and people assume you are on welfare (I determine eligibility for people to receive it, thank YOU very much).
People assume that we're all singing Kumbaya (sp?) when that is not the case.
I am scared for our black men because of situations like this.
I am encouraged by the response and show of support of people, though.
