I remember when AT&T was "absorbed", so to speak, by Cingular several years ago, and many people weren't happy at all, because they swore that they had better service with AT&T than they did when they were forced to go with Cingular. But I've had Cingular for 7 and a half years now and have not had any problems.

I'm totally with you on that. I've had a few dropped calls with Cingular/ATT, but who hasn't. I get service everywhere I go except for one corner in my office and a 1/10 mile stretch on I-26.
I have the iPhone. I got the 4GB when they lowered the price a couple of weeks ago. Since I've been covered up with lots of recruitment stuff, I haven't had tons of time to play with it. But I use Mac and have always used Mac, so I love syncing things up between my laptop and phone. I haven't been bothered by some of the reported grievances - 6 steps to make a phone call or whatever. I guess I'll forever lose that extra second of my life, but that's ok.
My brother got one when they first came out at the high price. Apple offered him a "refund" in credit at the Apple store. Which is just fine with him since we use their stuff. He rolled the credit toward a new computer!
