Sounds like you are very confused about the process. Releases (cuts) can occur anytime after the first party (depends on the campus.) Bid day is the day that women who have made it through the whole week find out which group they receive an invitation to join. If you make it to the preference party phase, you will be on someones bid list, but this does not necessarily mean you will receive a bid. If you are too low on the list, and the chapters make quota before your name comes up, you may not receive a bid. If you "suicide" (ie. only put down one group when you've been invited back to pref for more groups), there is a very good chance you may not get a bid. Some campuses do quota additions to try and give as many girls a chance at greek life as possible. Unfortunately, though, some women do remain bidless on bid day. Bid parties vary by chapter but usually involve pool parties or other activities that allow members to bond and celebrate the day. Girls should not be left in the field with no where to go when bids are handed out. Panhellenic notifies women ahead of time that they did not get a bid. We try our best not to be cruel to anyone. Hope that answers your questions.
