Oh come on, you guys. Play nice. I know we like to snark, criticize spelling, etc., with the newbies, but I can appreciate that the OP is stressed out, confused and dealing with a lot of adjustments. I don't think we need to go "outing" her by looking at what campuses have X NPCs with or without sorority XYZ and QRS.
It takes some cajones to transfer to a new school where you don't know anyone, and especially to a school a lot further away from home. Added to the fact that her home chapter didn't submit paperwork that she didn't even know about (and did any of you have any clue as to the paperwork involved with initiation or communication between the chapter and HQ when you were a new initiate?), I'd be anxious and looking online to see if there were any resources to give me more info or advice about the process.
PLUS there's the very long and twisted process involved in trying to transfer into another chapter, which is something the vast majority of members will never even contemplate b/c most people don't even contemplate transferring. Think of all of the adjustments and risks involved-- losing credits, getting used to a new school, the uncertainty of fitting in with the transfer chapter, liking your old school and old chapter enough to outweigh the potential benefit of transferring for a specialized major, etc. I'd be stressed out, too.
So what if her mom is trying to help her by making phone calls on her behalf? This kid is probably all of 18-19 years old, and from the looks of it, she was going to college close to her family before she moved farther away to attend the other school. I'd be overwhelmed trying to settle in and grateful for mom's help in trying to get things squared away for me-- if it met helping me find a local doctor in the area or figuring out how to get my sorority transfer request moving along.
Whatever. I guess I just don't "get it." Her posts maybe were a little confusing to read, but I just read that as her inexperience and anxiety. Comments about the chapter not being up to what she thought it would be based on her experience at recruitment, reputations of the new chapter-- give her a break. She's been fairly discreet about not naming names or locations, and she's just being honest.
