I can't remember if you were going to a bigger school (I think you were) but don't judge the new school's chapter on the old school's. They could be completely different and you could love it at your new school. And it could be that you would have never had a snowball's chance in hell at BEING in that chapter in your new school if you hadn't already initiated. So maybe this all happened for a reason.
Small school systems are not like big ones. There are often people in the groups that aren't very "gung ho" and think things like intramurals and Greek week are a stupid waste of time. You happened to join a really un-gung ho group. That's life. If you stuck around you might be able to change it, but it's a moot point since you're leaving due to your major.
And I have no idea what national group you're in, but I'm guessing due to the size of your old school it's one of the smaller ones. The smaller national groups do not have the staff that the larger ones do and sometimes things take longer.
And yeah...spell check and leave mom out of it.
