I like the weight watchers point system. Although I think it tends to be a bit low in protein.
There is something called the thermic effect (TEF) of food. Which is basically the calorie cost to break down the food you take in.
It takes negligible energy to break down carbs and fat, but supposedly it takes up to 30% of the value of the protein calorie to break down.
Small increases of protein isn't going to yield much effect, but replacing a lot of carb calories with protein calories may yield more fat loss over time.
