At my school, the fraternities are much larger than the sororities. There are 2 sororities, 8 fraternities, and 3 co-ed societies. A reason for the size difference is that the fraternities (for the most part) are all allied with a sport, meaning that 85-90% of its membership is a member of a specific team: football, lacrosse, wrestling, water polo, and baseball are all well-represented in some fraternities on campus.
