I run a multiple births site and receive tons of fake info. People have doctored ultrasounds, birth certificates and sent me pics of other people's children claiming them as their own. I've come across the "dead baby" story so many times.
Most of the fakers are bored teenagers, or people who just want to troll in a weird way and get some attention. But some are honest-to-God nutcases, like the one woman pretended to have quads and befriended a lot of other multiple parents and women really expecting quads and she'd visit them in the hospital - but no one ever saw her kids. She even contacted a real estate agent and went house hunting for her non-existent family.

This kind of thing is so sad to me--especially when it turns into those cases like you see on Oprah where women contact and promise families babies over adoption sites (one reason you should NEVER try to adopt online!! Buying books online? Great...trying to pick out a baby online? Not s'much) but were never really pregnant to begin with and then they claim that they had a miscarriage. It's just...really, really sick.
