Wow. Even though that's not supposed to be the way it works, I hope at least the people chatting those girls up about groups have an unusual about of pull within the groups and have secured excellent recommendations for those girls too. (These are some big chapters with a lot of well qualified and interested PNMs for the most part)
The absolute worst case is that the PNMs take them at their word but the sorority women basically talk like that to anyone they know going through. If that's the case, those girls will end up miserable if/when they get cut.
