A really cool event that was really successful and fun was a rock paper and scissors competition. What they did was had a monetary admission in exchange for fake money (cut up pieces of paper printed to resemble monopoly money), and you go around making bets, and you play at a table. Each table has a judge to make sure things are fair (have like 10 tables where people could just approach). The one with the most fake money won. They made a lot because, since it wasn't tourney style, people could buy themselves back in, meaning you make more. AND, this fraternity did it at the campus bar, so people who came to the bar got into it, and well, if you set something up with the local bar, you can arrange for a percentage of proceeds for charity, etc... Also, they had someone on mic for a large portion, presenting large wages, and getting the crowd really exciting.
It was really well thought out just because they had many was for them to collect for their charity.
