I agree with many of the posts on page 1, and would like to add a few things. First of all, don't worry so much about the "lifetime commitment". After pledging a sorority, there is a pledge period where you get to know the sisters better. If you decide you want to be a part of that sorority, then you initiate. If you realize it's just not for you, you don't have to initiate.

Even though one poster on here tried to send some advice on the best sororities and people freaked out, you will hear MUCH worse during recruitment. So try not to listen and take each 'reputation' with a grain of salt. You are going through in the fall, so many of these houses will have all kinds of women in them because, like you, they didn't have a lot of time to get to know all of the sisters before pledging.

So all you can do now is check out the national and chapter websites to see what they're about (philanthropy, etc.), try to get recommendations for every house, and connect with older girls who are in the houses already. Then join the house that feels like home. Good luck!
