Haha I refer to some of my SigKap friends as eeeks.
But yea it's just a small minor thing, but it kinda is a pet peeve that people use Σ as an E or an E as Σ...it doesn't take that much more effort to go find the symbol for it to type it in... For advertising it's just used so that it 'looks Greek' which probably pisses off people who are from Greece moreso than it does us. :]
