Brother Sonny Smith, the Basileus (President) of Lambda Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi at the University of Virginia and the President of the UVA Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers,was awarded a distinguished academic award by his department.

The award recipients are recommended by their departments based on academic achievements. Lockheed Martin has graciously supported this award for one student selected from each of six programs. The award consists of a $1,000 scholarship to be presented by Lockheed Martin representatives at an upcoming reception for the recipients. The full list of students are:
