Does anyone remember Melissa? From Real World New Orleans? Well she has a site and I found her thoughts on the last episode of Sex & The City hilarious - instead of summing it up, I will just paste it in:

Debt & The City

So, you know how when you watch TV, you sometimes have to remind yourself that it's make-believe before you get all pissy about what's going on. It's not real, man. Well, I watched Sex & The City last night and it practically glorified credit card debt and shoe shopping beyond your means. I mean, I could conceivably blame Sex & The City the next time I just have the urge to go buy more shoes I don't need. I mean, if I was so low that I needed to actually displace the blame in order to get the dirty deed done.

Okay, so Carrie's rent is only $750. In Manhattan. I know, rent control. But is rent control that good? Do you know how hot that apartment is? I always wondered how she could afford the apartment and the Manolo Blahniks. Okay, and she only had $700 in savings and $900 in checking (or something absurd like that). Actually, now that I think about it, that's so real it's scary. She has to be hundreds of thousands in debt. She just has to be. And her life is just grand. And it is just TV. So let me keep my brown ass inside before I go wasting this money because Carrie Bradshaw did. I am a grown ass adult looking at TV, trying to find excuses. They need a little disclaimer for every shopping scene on that show. Do Not Try This At Home, You Broke Fool.

Also, I just realized this...

Um, when she was denied a loan from the bank (which in real life she wouldn't have been because I know fools that only have $4 and a part-time job that get loans) in the next scene she was wearing a Coco Chanel shirt! If Carrie sold even just 20 pairs of her shoes, she'd be alright. Garage sale? I mean, she doesn't have a garage, but come on now, let's get practical.

And if Charlotte didn't want to give her the money in the first place, Carrie shouldn't have taken that ring in the second place. Coersion? Guilt? And I thought you didn't have any money! Shouldn't you be having tea at home! Over the gas stove! It was all too much. Just take the money from Mr. Big and continue the weird relationship. He doesn't need the money back and with all the galavanting and rendezvousing they do, he would probably forget about the money anyway. I don't know though, I wouldn't take that money from a man. So he could be trying to control me. Oh hell no. But still, I coudln't take old girl's ring! She can play make-believe marriage in that big ass crib all she wants. Someone please stop making Charlotte wear Easter dresses every day. It's killing me.
