Back when I was about 10 years old, I had an embarassment at the Jack-in-a-Box burger place by my house. My grandparents had been visiting us one afternoon and my whole family had gone out together to enjoy the afternoon. Afterwards, my parents headed home while my sister and I rode with our grandparents. Since we were a little hungry, we stopped at JitB to pick up some burgers for everyone.

When we got there, we found out that they were having a 25 cent hamburger promotion. My grandparents got excited and decided to order 24 hamburgers, four for each of us. My sister and I thought that seemed like too many; but grandma assured us that we could freeze any leftover burgers. I don't know...I guess that's a depression era mentality for ya.

Of course, seeing there were only four of us standing there, the guy behind the counter gave us a funny look. What really embarassed me was hearing the cook in the back counting, "2....4....6....8...10...12....12! <sigh> We need 12 more!!"

We ended up carrying out some five bags of hamburgers.
