Back when I was in school I'd get some stories behind the going's on, but haven't heard much on these. Kansas I haven't heard a thing.
As for MTSU:
I found some of the following allegations are listed in the violations:
- mental and physical discomfort for new pledges
- minor consuming of alcohol
- psychological shocks
- scavenger hunts
- personal servitude required of candidates
- kidnapping by candidates and initiates
What rubs me the wrong way about MTSU is that the University didn't feel anything was done, no charges were brought by students; it just appears Nationals went in and took the charter:

MTSU called Sigma Nu a pillar among fraternities. The alumni chapter president vowed to clean house if offending frat brothers are named. He's also urging the national chapter to open up. So is MTSU.
The school has been told the fraternity's findings are under lock and key. MTSU conducted its own investigation last fall and found no evidence of hazing inside Sigma Nu.
I sure hope they re-open them next year...
