FOR EXAMPLE: Is is inappropriate for an AXiD to wear a pink sweatshirt patterned fabric letters of, let's say, pink and white hearts (Phi Mu has pink and white)? I mean, it would be cute, but is it inappropriate now? Greekwear sites still offer patterns.

Last time I checked, I never knew of any NPC sororities that had rules that you could only wear letters in the sorority colors.
If there were those rules, then all kinds of people would be getting into trouble at my old school
I also don't consider it disrespectful to have your letters in some other sorority's colors... the groups don't own the colors, and some groups might even have the same colors.
