Much like pulling old stuff out of the back of a closet, I'm pulling this thread out of the far back of the board.
In the last two years I've gotten married and become a father, in addition to having become a true Christian. I also have become quite a different person from who I was back during my college days. One of the first thing I found was a copy of an old Lambda Chi Alpha ritual practice booklet. I read through it and was amazed how much I didn't pay attention to back in the day. The ritual really is amazing when you read over it again as a more mature adult.
I never put away my paddles. They were up in my old apartment and are now up in the den of our house. I have five of them -- four from little brothers (Jason, Joe, Steve and George) and one from when I was High Beta and stepped in to be the associate educator when the then High Kappa couldn't fulfill his duties (hey, we were a chapter of 7 actives back then!).
I also never put away the Lambda Chi Alpha shotglass I was given by my grand big brother when I was intiated. It's still with my collection (I have over a hundred shotglasses from all over the place).
I also recently found:
-My old initiation certificate.
-A certificate of service from the university for serving as IFC secretary
-A certificate of service from the university for serving as IFC president
-A certificate from a local senator congratulating me for graduating
-The above-mentioned ritual practice booklet
-Some old pictures of me with my big brother when we were in Honolulu for the UTEP/Univ. of Hawai'i basketball game
-Some old pictures of me and some of the brothers on our trip to Puerto Penasco, Mexico
Again, I never put a lot of stuff away. I still have most of it prominently displayed in my den so there wasn't THAT much to find, but I'm glad for what I did.
