I researched a bit for you. If you type in
Apartment Guide in your web browser's search engine, it'll allow you to choose Charlotte as your area and type in all of the amenities/ price range that your looking for. It also gives the option to send a guide (5.00). Anyway, once you click on the apartments, many of them have an 888 number.
The South side is really nice, but can be very expensive. The Southeast side (going towards the Matthews area) can also be very nice and more affordable than South Charlotte.
