At first I wondered about that too, but one of the comments on the website offered what seems to me to be a fairly logical rationale for that (and not the risque one you might expect)...

first of all, in this type of scenario, i'd assume your first thought wouldn't be to call the police. it was most likely shocking and strange, perhaps even humorous, but not a threat to safety (hers or theirs) or a legal matter. weird shit happens on a college campus and they probably assumed it to be a joke at first. after they realized it wasn't a stunt and she was planning on staying, they made sure to ask her if she was alright, needed them to call anyone, etc. when she responded that she was fine, they realized she was obviously deluded and called the police. what else could they have done, politely asked her to leave? it doesn't appear that she was a rational human being and so rational actions were impossible.
