We selected Nu Beta Omicron because the letters, NBO, also represented a concept that is central to our sorority: Never Be Ordinary. This is special to us on several levels. One is because sororities are not particularly well regarded here at UCSC, so we wanted to make sure people knew that our intent wasn't to be stereotypical sorority girls. I know that this stereotype is largely untrue, but many people at my school think otherwise. We also wanted to make sure that we would strive towards continuously bettering ourself and our sisterhood- it's sort of like a standard that we hold ourselves to. We don't want to be content with just being a sorority, we want to be extraordinary. Does that sound cheesy and lame?
