Yes!! I am not only a Kappa but an Sigma Alpha Iota (professional music fraternity for women) as well, and when I got my SAI badge it was in pretty bad shape. The pin was bent, a pearl was missing, and it needed some severe polishing. It had definitely been worn and used before I received it. My educated guess is that it was worn for years by someone who passed away, sent to HQ, and then sent to my chapter when the badge order was placed.
