By the year 2010, the University of Alabama expects to increase student enrollment by 8,000 students, including graduate and law students, so you might expect the number of pnms to increase proportionately each year. Moreover, the pnm total for the past few years has increased by one to two hundred per year. If the estimated number of 2,000 pnms for Fall 2007 is true, how does the University accommodate so many young ladies? Will there likely be further colonization by non-represented sororities to fulfill the demand for Greek membership? The current houses on campus can only handle a finite number of actives, right? Any thoughts or comments?
The problem at Alabama (and other Southern schools that are steeped in tradition) is that a new sorority is looked at somewhat askance. Women would rather be in no sorority at all (or a chapter with 300 women that they barely know) than the "wrong" sorority.

The NPC sororities that aren't represented there are quite aware of this and as you would imagine, very reluctant to sink hundreds of thousands of dollars into a colonization effort that may not pan out.
