The TKE house south of campus at NW MO was what I called home for 4 years. The new house was only a dream and didn't become a reality until 12 years after I graduated.
FYI, I was peeking in old files for our chapter at the TKE International HQ and there was a memo from 1952 that stated that TKE was fortunate to have landed this interest group. It went on to say that LXA was really on their heels and wanted to colonize with the same group. As near as I can tell, a main reason that they went TKE was because their Chapter advisor was an alumnus from TKE's Alpha Chapter in Bloomingtion IL. I don't know LXA never went on and colonized there with another group.
A neat book to check out is a manual about GLO's called "The Bairds Manual of College Fraternities." It gives all chapters that have ever been on a campus and when. Give it a look if you ever get the chance. Try a campus library. It is on the net, but you must buy the book.
