Dear KappaGirl2--
Gotta get this stuff right, girl! Monmouth College is alive and well in Monmouth, Illinois (which is about 180 miles west of Chicago.)
The Alpha Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma was founded at Monmouth College in 1870, and still exists (and is flourishing!)today.
As carnation noted, Pi Beta Phi was also founded at Monmouth College (in Illinois), and that is why you commonly hear Kappa and Pi Phi referred to as "the Monmouth Duo," much like the Miami Triad of fraternities.

Oh, Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma,
I'm so happy that I am a
Kappa Kappa Kappa Gamma,
Nobody knows . . . how
happy I am!
