Casimir Pulaski Day is actually a Polish Holiday.

The guy who was running for govenor at the time promised the Chicago Polish that he would give them a Polish holiday if they would vote for him. So they did, and he did. I don't think most schools/banks/gov offices get it off anymore, though.

I'd have to google to remember what Casimir Pulaski even did.
