Linderman didn't put the fake sword in the museum -- FUTURE HIRO DID!
Why?
Maybe in an alternate timeline, Hiro loses the sword or somehow ruins it, so Future Hiro arranges for present Hiro not to have the sword (plus Future Hiro gets his), and then draw him to Linderman, thereby meeting other Heroes enroute.
It's a little crazy, but things like this have been done before in time travel fiction.
Now the question is...who the eff is this Linderman?

Good question about HRG, I just assumed his agency with no initials had resources to get him places.
While it's a possibility Future Hiro seemed pretty particular about not messing up the time line. I'd think it's too risky, although now that they're all in NYC, they're all heading to Vegas again (just in time to go back to NYC for the big boom I assume)
All we know about Lindermann now is that he's rich, likely owns the casino Nathan stayed in, buys politicians, and collects art/antiques, and is not a very nice person. I see much potential for super villian there... Lex Luthor much?
