I have been told if you alter government info(ie, rubbing out numbers on an ID or changing them with a scanner), it is a felony, but if you are just using someone else's ID, it is only a misdemeanor--no jail time! Point in case--I had a sorority sister who looked a whole lot like me, so when she turned 21, she went down to the DMV, told them she had lost her license and got a new one. Then I paid her the $10 dollars and got her old ID. It worked GREAT except we could never go to the same bars(and there are only 2 bars in Elon) because it was small enough that most of the bouncers knew both of us. But it was WONDERFUL when I would go to to other schools to see friends or be home for break. The funny thing is, that ID has now been passed on to another sister and still gets used. Its always the big joke at AOTT--who is Kelly Hayman this year???

The underage person could also take a friends photo id card and have their pic taken at the DMV.
