My mom said she thought that they were going to award it to the first baby born closest to midnight, regardless of time zone. So if a west coast baby had been born at 12:00 and 15 seconds, and no other baby had been born in any of the other time zones earlier than that, then that baby would have won.
Besides, sweepstakes and contests ALWAYS have fine print. The fine print listed the eligibility.
