I think that when people don't pledge/or are taken through the "intake" process, they miss the true power of what it means to step. To truly appreciate the power of that action, one must understand the power of the emotion that is supposed to be associated with it. I think that the de-mystification of the pledging process has only succeeded to disempower the spirit of the journey and it has taken with it, the distinct art of what it means to step. Hollywood doesn't need to make a movie about everything and I'm embarrassed that a member of Alpha Phi Alpha has anything to do with it, though, I understand his right to project his opinion and thought in any form he chooses, I just hope that stepping doesn't become a symbol without substance.
