Chick lit is simple. It is formulaic. It is trash. Anyone can write it. Here is the formula:

-Cliche names that no one would really ever be named in real life for fear of having the shit beaten out of them.
-Wealthy good-looking bachelor player
-said player is unhappy with his wild boy ways
-gorgeous girl with body image issues
-girl MUST work in publishing in a big city
-boy and girl MUST meet by chance, as this is the only way they will fall in love
-there must be dark secrets from one or both that threatens to break them up after hot steamy sex scenes
-one forgives the other and they have lots of sex and babies.

Remember-this is simple. This is fun. This is easy. And this is absolutely freaking hilarious. I look forward to your efforts.
Note: you can change some details, but keep the basic formula the same i.e. change the profession, the little things.

I know you're all talented and willing to roll your sleeves up and jump in. Let's do this. Let's write some mary-sue chick lit.
