Hahaha, back in the day (97ish?), the DI was truly independent of the university, and actually cost money. Then it published a nasty column about serenades (which I believe are gone now too). Well, apparently some of the editors forgot that over 70% of the subscriptions came from greek houses, and a very large chunk of the ads came from businesses that didn't want to anger the greeks. So the greeks canceled all subscriptions, and pressured local businesses not to advertise, and the DI was essentially put out of business, until the university stepped in with some money to save it. It then became free to all students, only sorta independent, and agreed to run a greek feature every week in the Buzz section. But again, for a group of aspiring journalists, they are not very good at research, because they cut out the section in 2002 or so, and went right on back to being nasty. If the greeks would organize again, they could hit the advertising dollars pretty hard.

Thank You for posting this!

Amazing how much pressure that GLOs can come to bere on things like this.

News Papers according to what I have read will go out of print because of the internet. They wonder why?

Print Media runs on $$$$ from ADs.

Speaking of what ever one wants to call it, a run out, is just a GLO, Fraternity/Sorority getting together and meet each other. Yes, We do not know each other, but to sit have a fun time has a lot of relationships.
