I guess it makes sense, because usually Xi is pronounced "zie" but in our (Alpha Xi Delta) name it's "zee", because it's after "Alpha" or something like that. Does anyone know the letters that change around like that?
Our Xi is pronounced as "zee" because that's the way it is properly pronounced in the Greek language -- the whole "it's pronounced that way because it comes after Alpha" line is incorrect. So, the groups who pronounce Xi as "zie" are pronouncing it incorrectly, or, more specifically, they are pronouncing it the Americanized way.

Phi is also pronounced "fee" because that is the way it is properly pronounced in Greek.
