Unfourtunatly, often times it was the problem children whose parents said "NO! Don't spank my BABY!" Gee, I wonder how they got to be a problem in the first place?
The parents whose kids were well behaved didn't have to worry either way, because their kids don't need the paddle.
Also, not to hijack, but I remember a time when what the teacher said to the parent was gospel...if the teacher told your parents that you messed up, you messed up and were punished at home. Nowadays, it seems like the "that teacher is out to get my child..my BABY couldn't have possibly done whatever it was they are accused of" sentiment rules.
