An anonymous $2 million donation is enough for William Jewell College to break ground on a Sorority Complex and Greek Commons.
The college has raised $9 million of the $12 million needed to complete the complex, which will include four sorority houses and will accommodate 250 residents. Officials hope to open it by 2009.
The donor was identified only as a William Jewell alumna.
William Jewell’s sororities are now housed in a part of a residence hall built in 1957. The new complex is scheduled for the former site of a married-housing complex leveled by a tornado in May 2003.
The sororities are Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Zeta and Zeta Tau Alpha.
