Basically, to make a long story short, I like being in my sorority, but between family and medical problems, work, school, internship, plus problems in our chapter, I'm going insane! I don't want to quit and since it seems that there is no in-between status I could take for a semester, I'd like to go alum.

Alpha Chi Omega does not have a "going alum" status. The only alumnae status is conferred upon either graduation, or at the start of the 5th year of school where one is a member. So you can't go alum - granted, you have a lot of things going on, but that unfortunately doesn't qualify for any kind of special status. The only status for a collegiate member of AXO is being an active member (aka, lifetime member). You will need to talk with your CRSB about your situation if you need to maybe work out your schedule. They should be willing to work with you & can help make an agreeable arrangement for you both.
