I approve of Alumnae Initiation because for many reasons outside your control, it is not possible at times to join a sorority in college. Financial reasons, parents not approving (this is mainly relevant if you are living at home), classes or extracurriculars relevant to major requiring too much time and work (eg- you are pre-med or pre-vet and have to do a certain amount of volunteering in addition to 15 credits of tough classes per semester), or there simply not being any social GLOs at your institution. When you are an adult living on your own and having a full time job with a salary, you may be able to contribute more to an organization in ways that you would not have been able to do when you were an undergraduate of the average undergraduate age.
