It is my opinion that any woman who wishes to become a part of a sorority without prior ties should be allowed to seek membership. Note that I said "seek" and not necessarily "obtain" membership. As I will explain in a moment, I feel that AI should be reserved for very successful women who have something special to give to the sorority.

There are many reasons why excellent women did not or could not become a part of the Greek system in college. Among them: financial reasons, not having enough time to devote because of sports or school work, or no sororities at the college attended.

Having said that, I believe in mutual selection. It is up to the Alumnae Chapter and International Headquarters to determine if someone is right for their group. The selection process should be very.. well.. for lack of a better word, "selective." The PNAM should have an outstanding background and have demonstrated the willingness to contribute to the sorority.
