Sororities As Historic Sites

Sorority locations are being recognized as historic sites. At Rhodes (in Memphis) four sorority buildings are being added to the National Register of Historic Places as “examples of the collegiate gothic style.” The buildings are homes to Alpha Omicron Pi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, and Kappa Delta. In Indiana, at DePauw, the state Historical Bureau “will note the foundation of America's first Greek-letter fraternity for women on the DePauw University campus by placing a state historical marker at the Alpha Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta.” Then dedication ceremony for the marker will be on October 7.
