If it was what I thought it was when I was watching, it just appeared to be some slime of some sort from the fish. Reminded me of stewed okra.

Perhaps its because only some of the viewers don't like them. I refuse to watch Fear Factor, where the food challenges are much grosser, but the food challenges in TAR rarely bother me. (I did think it was over the top when teams needed barf buckets nearby with one challenge, but I was surprised with the fish eyes that so few of the contestants seemed phased. Almost without exception, the non-eating teammate was having a harder time than the one actually eating.)
If you don't like the food challenges, at least be glad it seems to be out of the way for this season.
