Well, $150 a semester is not a lot of money. Your dues pay your national per capita fee, which basically helps run the international office. This also helps to pay for programming the headquarters may offer to you during the semester... workshops, leadership consultants, and the like. Per capita fees are between 1/3 and 1/2 of $150. Your dues are also paying for your insurance. While you may not have a house or suite, you do have an organization and things can happen within that organization to require insurance. That insurance is NOT cheap.

So now what's left? Well, it depends on what fees you may have to pay to campus, the activities your chapter is paying for, the general operations of your chapter, etc. If you look at the big picture, it takes resources, and that's what dues are providing.
