It would be informative to know if actually pulling barb out was a good idea or caused more damage to his heart.
Also, if a poisonous penetration of the heart by itself would have been fatal had the barb stayed in place until it could be removed by doctors.
People have survived heart penetrations by bullets, knives, etc., depending on the initial damage.
