Actually, if someone didn't know the basic information about my chapter, then I wouldn't call her a sister because she wouldn't be initiated. In my organization, you must pass a sorority education exam before you can become a sister and things like symbols are some of the very first topics mentioned.
However, to answer your question, if one of my sisters made an error in a post on a public forum, I would discreetly bring the error to her attention in a private e-mail or in a one-on-one conversation. I wouldn't criticize her publicly because that could result in embarrassment and hurt feelings -- two things that I would never want one of my sisters to experience due to something that I might have said or done.
