This may have been mentioned before, but I understand the guy was up on charges in SE Asia -- and the jails are a lot "nicer" here.
He got a very nice airplane flight "home."
The Boulder DA has been criticized by Governer Bill Owens and many others, but a very high profile local defense lawyer who consults with one of the local TV stations thinks that she (the DA) handled it exactly right, and really didn't have much choice in the situation because the former suspect was a flight risk and his "confession."
It took a lot of nerve and some high professional standards to drop the charge as quickly as she did in my opinion.
Unfortunately, there wasn't enough evidence to charge.
