Agreed - we both had horrific Sprint experiences in undergrad, and mine continued even after . . . if they've improved, that's awesome, because I had zero problems with the actual service, just the customer service.
I use US Cellular, which sucks pretty badly but gets me the corporate rate - I would only suggest it if you're extremely cost-conscious in the Midwest.
My current phone is a RAZR V3c - it's absolutely fantastic, great reception, lots of memory and options, and I put it through the washing machine and it still works. Very solid phone, far better than any of the other Motorola products I've seen/used (and none of the battery life issues the earlier RAZRs had - I get about 4 days of power-on time, and have never had talktime issues).
