So the announcement went out yesterday! I'm so excited!
Press Release
Elkridge, Maryland (August 15, 2006) – Director of Extension Alicia Scott announces that Phi Sigma Sigma has been invited to colonize at Metropolitan State College of Denver and the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs (UCCS). “This is a unique opportunity to not only build to our walls, but also add a new state to our chapter roll,” said Scott.
Phi Sigma Sigma volunteers and staff will conduct a colonization recruitment at Metro State in September. Prior to this, Field Consultant Feli Tamparong (Theta Upsilon, University of LaVerne) will lead a public relations campaign to generate excitement and interest in the Fraternity.
Colonization procedures at UCCS require students to establish an interest group and petition the university for recognition as a Phi Sigma Sigma chapter. Field Consultant Natalia Arruda (Pi, Syracuse University) and Phi Sigma Sigma volunteers and staff will work with the UCCS students who have already expressed interest to recruit additional group members in September.
Chapter key advisors have been identified for both campuses. Alumnae interested in participating in either colonization or serving on the advisory board can contact Fraternity Headquarters at
phisighq@phisigmasigma.org.
Phi Sigma Sigma joins Sigma Sigma Sigma international sorority at Metro State and Pi Beta Phi international sorority at UCCS. “We are looking forward to working with our NPC sisters to establish strong Panhellenic communities at Metro State and UCCS,” said Scott.
Phi Sigma Sigma is an international women’s fraternity founded in 1913 at Hunter College in New York City. Currently, Phi Sigma Sigma has over 55,000 initiated members worldwide, with 110 collegiate chapters and colonies and more than 100 alumnae groups across North America.
